My insomnia was really acting up on Saturday night. I got about three hours of sleep. I dragged through the day on Monday and rewarded myself with a big glass of red wine, as I was making dinner. My plan was to hold it together until Steve came home, when he could deal with the kids and the dinner clean-up. I would watch "The Carrie Diaries" and go to sleep at 9. That was the plan.
Then I checked my e-mail. Media Matters has a radio show on Sirius, and they wanted to chat about my article in the Atlantic about the budget cuts and education. And they wanted to do that interview at 10:30 pm.
I corked the bottle of pinot noir and put on the hot water for tea.
This is my third radio interview. I think I'm getting better, but radio hosts each have their own style, so it's hard to build up experience.
Anyway, I was super, super tired. My brain farted out a couple of times. But it was a fun chat. Somehow we went beyond my article to talk broadly about raising a kid with autism and the state of modern media. Luckily, I have opinions about most everything.

Laura — you are great on the radio. All your teaching skills transfer, even when you can’t see the folks you are informing. I’m thinking you would be a good interviewer, too, or a moderator.
