This weekend, we have purposefully not scheduled any social gatherings. The four of us just want to spend time together. Maybe we'll go out to dinner or maybe we'll go swimming.
Sunday is packed. We have to drop off Jonah at boyscout camp in Pennsylvania by 1. Then Steve, Ian, and I will muck about in the Delaware Water Gap for a while on our own.
I am hoping that we'll have time to zip into Manhattan to buy a new camera at B & H. I badly need a new one. My D40 is outdated and doesn't do well in low light conditions.
So, cameras, camp, and pool for us this weekend.
Question of the Day: What are you doing this weekend?

Camera shopping – fun! My fave lens for low light is the 50mm f1.4 prime. Amazing lens.
I try to not be over scheduled on the weekends too. This one we are meeting friends and hanging out. Swim, BBQ. Nothing fancy. Just fun.

I’m going to Hilton Head next week. It’s a business trip, but I’m brining the family.

You know you can’t go to B&H on a Saturday, right?

Sorry. My life revolves around B&H’s hours. Really.
Weekend plans: I’m volunteering at Waterfire on Saturday night, and Sunday is my son’s birthday. I’m finally cracking and letting him get a Nintendo DS. He will pay half. I also hope his t-shirt comes by tonight or tomorrow. I’m also thinking of arranging a playdate/trip to Friendly’s with his friend J. I like J. He’s the oldest kid in his family and seems to have a common sense and maturity that my son lacks.
We have a pool in the backyard, one of those Intex ones. The 13 yo girl is not swimming at this particular time of the month, but the rest of us will probably cool off in the pool.

Yes, I realized that that last night. Must be devout types. It closes at 2 on Fridays, too. I think I’ll go Sunday morning or on Monday.

My family just went to a Coldplay concert without me. I couldn’t buy more than 4 tickets through Ticketmaster, and my ticket didn’t seem worth the extra 300$ it would cost to buy them through a broker. I’m bummed. It’s the first rock concert for two of my three kids and I’m going to miss it…

Just got back from Paris/Amsterdam yesterday, so we’re having a low key weekend. Swimming, perhaps. Definitely a couple of yoga classes for me. More unpacking, unfortunately!

We’re going house shopping too.
Also, you don’t need to ditch the D40 to shoot in low light. Just get a prime lens for it.

Impromptu lunch plans with friends in Brooklyn, because we sheduled nothing. And, then dinner at Craft on Sinday evening. With so much going on, we have a lot of down weekends, but the down weekends are kind of a bummer….strange mix, trying to do x but also trying to relax.
Waterfire volunteer? Sooo cool!

Oh, our weekend plans! 1. Drive down to the Dead Sea and go hiking at Ein Gedi. It was pretty wonderful. 2. Packing. Because we’re leaving to fly back to Germany on Monday. That’s not so wonderful.

Macaroni, I actually don’t ever light the fires or go on the water. I prefer to be on land. I work at one of the stations where we take donations and answer questions and chat with people. I love it. However, tonight they’re doing some sort of different thing with the glow-band necklaces we give out, and it’s going to be a PITA.
Special tonight! Show your support and be a part of the installation by donating and receiving a Ribbon of Light! There will be pink ribbons of light scattered among the station, winners will receive a $5 gift card for Dunkin Donuts. There will be one (1) special red ribbon of light which will give you and three (3) friends a VIP boat ride through the installation.
On one level it’s a great idea, but it’s going to be annoying as hell for the volunteers because we can’t just spread the glowy things on the top of the station and let people grab them. Oh well, keep calm and carry on….
