Sometimes A Grey Day is Good

We've overdone everything in the past three weeks. Too much work. Too much food. Too much friends. After two BBQs and a Bar Mitzvah this weekend, we had that tired feeling in our body core. It hurt everytime we breathed.

On Sunday afternoon, Steve and I curled up on the sofa and watched three episodes of Game of Throwns, as the kids had some down-time in the computer room. Sometimes, it's good to come to a great series late, because you can just throw yourself into the series and not have to wait around for the next installment.

As I packaged up Ian for school today, I told him to put on a jacket. I said, "it's going to be 60 degrees today. "No," he told me, "it's going to be 64." He's right, of course. That's what the weather guy said this morning. Ian does not like rounding numbers.

There's a lot of stuff that I could write about this week. I'm done with the guest blogging gig, but I can always submit articles. I should write about Romney's voucher plan. But it's a grey week, and I want to appreciate my cozy home and my snuggly kids. It's going to be grey all week with lots more rain. My tomato plants are looking slightly ill from all this dampness, but the first CSA share will arrive on Tuesday. It's just in time. We need healthy food.

We also need more pictures, some paint on some walls, some board games. This grey weather is making me feel very nesty. I'm really loving this transition to a freelance writing career. It's not a lot of money, but it lets me use my brain when I need to and it lets me walk away for a bit when I need to.
