Too Much of a Good Thing

The 11D family is fairly exhausted right now. June is always that way. Guests, BBQs, end of the year school performances, track meets, are all fantastic, but there's a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into all that. Guest towels, ironed shirts and ties, clean track shirts, side dishes, meticulous calendars, and late nights. As a result, some routine chores haven't happened. Our lawn hasn't been mowed in two weeks. Our neighbors with the manicured lawns must be very irritated with us. Also, we haven't had time to just sit. Sitting is a very good thing.

I wrote a lot this week. I have three new guest posts at Megan's blog. (Thanks to Megan for that opportunity.) The blog post about autism finances is still getting bounced around the Internet. I spent too many hours spying on its progress. How many links on Twitter? What are the commenters saying? How many Facebook likes? All that information is useful, but perhaps I didn't need to spend all that time babysitting the blog posts.

Well, I need to go pick up around the house. Another guest will arrive in an hour.

  1. It’s hard NOT to hover over those posts that are a hit, eh? And see whose reading them where.
You are just firing on all cylinders. I have a number of bloggy friends whose blogs are just taking off in the past while – all that hard work creating good original content AND getting it seen is paying off.
Making their own good luck – great to see.

    Can’t agree more.
The next week is a killer for me. Spring Fling (though we may be rained out tomorrow), Band Festival (hope we’re not rained on when we take the band kids to the swim club), concert, middle school awards night, and on top of it all, I volunteered to serve as a parent rep on the hiring committee for a new 5th grade teacher. Hey, felt it couldn’t hurt to schmooze with all the 5th grade teachers as E is going into 5th grade next year. 🙂

  3. It’s been a disaster week in the Raghome, as an end-of-the-year performance in Eldest Raggirl’s class Tuesday night included a teacher-directed racist performance. I complained, and convinced others in the audience who told me they were offended to do so as well. This got me labeled as the “leader of the protest” (even though other parents I did not know also complained individually, and I didn’t really lead anything). So I am now being personally attacked by supporters of the teacher in question as leading a crazy, liberal PC “witch hunt.”
Too much of a good thing, indeed.

If schools don’t teach kids racism, they’ll just pick up misinformation on the playground.
