This week, I'm beating back the chores to a managable level of chaos. Phone numbers and reminders on little scraps of papers and sticky notes that had lost their stick wafted off my desk every time I opened a window. The wifi access sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. Ian has a birthday party for a pile of kids and siblings this Friday. Steve decided last night that he wanted to make his own pinata for the party. An oak tree with an omnious branch that hangs over the family room needs tending.
The tree dude and I bonded over the evils of leaf blowers. He chuckled that all the top soil in Bergen County is sitting in some landfill. My poor plants and trees need lots of TLC.
Right now, two cable dudes are snaking new wires around the house, because… I don't know why exactly. Somebody said something about grounding and routers and incorrect flow. Whatever. They're doing something, which means I can't leave the house yet to buy supplies for Ian's party.
So, I made some lists and more color coded calendars and tackled much of it. Having a real life interferes with my blogging life, so that's why I haven't been around much this week.
Question of the Day: What's on your Chore List?

1. flowers for the couple who paid for dinner the other night.
2. photos and floor plans of the summer house to the insurance company.
3. wall sconces for the summer house.
4. pack for trip to Wake Forest admitted students weekend.
5. trip to bank once I figure out how much money needs to be in each account.
Also, actual paying work.

I’ve thought for a while that a Death Star would be a simple but elegant DIY pinata.

Here’s what’s on my stickies (I have longer lists elsewhere):
1. sign up for summer camps
2. call Uncle So-and-So to see if Uncle So-and-So will teach elderly relative to use GPS if we get a GPS for elderly relative
3. catch up email
4. book movers (mid-June?)
5. get storage or temporary homes for stuff in garage that’s worth keeping
6. sift kids’ rooms before move (with kids)
7. take unwanted Russian books to library free area
8. video editing (very much in arrears–should do before move)
9. catch up scrapbooks before move
10. print blog book???
11. schedule playdates
12. get rid of unnecessary kitchen items/sift kitchen junk drawers
13. get rid of unneeded MBR closet boxes left from Christmas
14. work on husband’s home office to prepare for move (with husband)
15. check credit reports
A lot of those list items will require help from other people (mainly my husband). We’re moving in about two months, so I want to get certain archival stuff done before the move, to prevent damage to or loss of media. If we do the video work and send out copies to all the grandmas, there’s little risk of permanent loss.
