It's St. Patrick's Day. I will be avoiding the parades in NYC and Pearl River, NY. I have bad memories of being accosted in the city by drunks, because I have red hair. We're thinking about taking a drive up to a farm, lunch in Cold Spring, then dinner of corned beef at my mom's.

Wow, he’s almost too drunk to stand in that clip.

The other clip is for really drunk people to stand in.

I’m in the city now and it’s already hard to imagine a bigger collection of such bags, ass holes, and girls with too much makeup who are twenty to to thirty pounds to big for their tight clothes. I’m just glad I’ll be gone before the puking really gets going. It is enough to make on wish the English had finished the Irish off.

We don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Ghana. There are no Irish people here. But, UTAG (University Teachers Association of Ghana) the union representing all faculty at public universities did declare a strike on Friday. This is the equivalent numerically of all faculty in the University of California system going on strike. But, because we are in Africa I have seen absolutely no coverage of this outside of a few Ghanaian news sources. The leftists academic blogs that claim to support people of color, labor movements, and academics have been most deafening in their silence. If an academic strike this large occurred in any white country the left wing blogosphere would be all over it.

Have you tried getting a Californian to make a video about it?

well, I’m not in the city, so it might be easier for me — but didn’t we already decide that disparaging an entire race, entire culture based on the behavior of some is a bad idea?
Just read an op Ed somewhere that cited to the Irish being the first “immigrants”, as we think of them today, and citing to a nytimes article from the nineteenth century disparaging the French Canadians for being poor, ignorant, overbreeding and showing no sign of ever becoming American.
