The Estate of Huguette Clark

Tdy-120313-huguette-clark.photoblog500Huguette Clark, the reclusive who died last year at the age of 104, continues to provide us with amazing glimpses of old New York wealth.

Her jewelry is amazing. Check out her apartments in Manhattan. 15,000 square feet on Central Park East. Wow. Great slide show here

  1. Can you call her “old New York wealth,” though? She seems to have been very reclusive. Her father was a senator from Montana.
I don’t think owning a large apartment in New York, and living there for decades, necessarily makes someone “old New York wealth” if they don’t move in society. From the news reports, she could just as well have been the isolated lady living in Houston or California.

  2. Here estate here in Santa Barbara is the subject of much local gossip and speculation. Her will said it should become a museum, but no one knows what will happen since the will is being contested. It is on gorgeous ocean-front land that will never be developed, IMHO, because of local regulations and the California Coastal Commission, so no one knows what will become of it.
