Somewhere he’s also got a posting about how that bit of randomness will someday be the thing he is most famous for, despite numerous published novels, Hugo award, etc etc.

Wow. Just wow. My aunt and uncle and their 4 kids used to live in St. Clair Shores, kind of a tonier suburb. We used to drive through Detroit to get there. None of them live there now…and that slideshow makes me sad.

Laura, have you read Sweet Juniper? He’s done a fantastic job of chronicling Detroit’s decline, as well as the signs of hope and life that exist there too.
Baltimore is a city with a lot (too much) in common with Detroit.
