The Internet continues to revolutionize life. New companies are forming. Old ones are floundering. A bunch of relevant links:
Colleges hire companies to build their online classes.
"Social media may remain wildly popular but never
be wildly profitable." Advertisers aren't making much money using Twitter and Facebook. Don Draper could figure this out, I bet.
Kindle titles are outpacing sales of hardcovers at Amazon.
Content farms give me the chills.

The whole situation with these online courses in the “master teacher” model gives me the heebee-jeebies, especially when it’s clearly a cash-cow for the U and its corporate partners.
I know that the failure and drop-out rate for many of these courses is quite high, despite having some highly motivated course instructors. The way their hands are tied in that they can only follow the scripts and have to meet so many specified goals that have nothing to do with the immediate needs of their students? Maddening!
