As I mentioned earlier, we're frolicking in the sun this weekend with a trip into the city, a soccer game, corned beef at my mom's house, a race, and the garden.
Question of the Day: What plans have you made for this glorious weekend?
Leave saving the world to the men? I don't think so.

Mourning the loss of 100% of our district’s state education funding.

It is better to have been funded and lost than to never have been funded at all. Unless you think Prospect Theory is right.

Saturday: the aforementioned dance competition. While we’re gone, my husband is going to hunt for a (blush) dog trailer for the bike.
Sunday: Bike as a family, including the dog.

We’re here in Chicago where it will be 30 degrees and snowy this weekend. Blah!
But I’m planning to neaten the house top to bottom and throw all the old toys either in the trash or in the give-away box. Having a less cluttered house will make me happy despite the crummy weather.
Also hope to take my 8 year old to “diary of a wimpy kid”. He loves the books-hope the movie at least sort of lives up to his hopes.

On saturday I’ll give my wife a ride to Staten Island for a horseback riding lesson and I’ll go shop at the Union Square Green Market and some other places in Manhattan. Sunday, alas, I’ll be working on a paper.

Running up to Seattle to grab a little spring break, since I’ll be working through most of it.

Leaving Pittsburgh, which has had glorious sunny spring weather all week. I also got to bask at my in-laws where wine and prosciutto appear promptly at 6 every evening before dinner is served. Driving back to Iowa via all other Midwesyern states beginning with vowels. Apparently we will go home to snow. The end of spring break is always a bummer.

We are having people over for a cookout tomorrow. The basement is dry and mostly clean–hasn’t looked this good since we moved in. It still kind of smells like a basement–but that’s what we expect with a unfinished basement.
Sunday, we will recover from Saturday’s gathering. 🙂

Maybe searching garage sales for a funky sofa table.

We had a funky sofa. It went into the dumpster right after potty training looked mostly done.

Yeah, we’re hoping to avoid the “funk” and just get funky instead. 🙂

Bah! We also sacrificed a sofa to potty training. Painful.
11th anniversary on Sunday. We’re going for FONDUE!!! I am beyond excited about it.

1. The riding place canceled C’s lesson due to weather.
2. It’s snowing and sleeting in Oklahoma, so our friends have canceled. We will try again next week.
3. The birthday is still on.
It looks like it’s going to rain all day today and the $1.25 movie theater doesn’t have anything good, so here’s a possible alternate agenda:
a. return/get library books
b. go to Walmart for Italian basil and Thai basil in pots
c. go to confession/reception into Catholic Church of young graduate couple
d. kids play purportedly educational Jumpstart games on my laptop

The weekend is already underway, but the plans for the “glorious” Sunday are a bit stress-inducing: do as much as possible to get the house ready to put on the market in 5 days. 😦
