The Angel of Uncertainty

Chris Bertram pointed me to a wonderful video with Sally Mann
explaining the process of working with collodion, a method of
developing photographs used by Brady and others during the Civil War. She
explains that random mistakes make her photographs beautiful.

I have been a huge fan of Sally Mann's work for years. If I should
ever stumble across a pile of money, I would first buy a farm and then
start collecting her work. I love her surreal photographs of her
children; she is a mother-artist. I also love the wonderful scenes of
rural Virginia with all of its decay and beauty.
