MLA v. APSA

I've read a ton of blog posts and tweets about the MLA conference even though I'm not a literature professor. Seems like the participants at the MLA conference use new technology more than the political scientists at APSA.

The Chronicle gives a rundown of the new media/MLA intersection. (And congrats to the shout out to Planned Obsolescence.)

  1. Actually, the MLA hasn’t paid for wi-fi yet, a point of serious contention among the digital humanities folks. On the other hand, the MLA leadership is listening to those of us who are begging for it, and is trying to negotiate a contract for the Jan. 2011 conference; it’ll raise the cost of registration a bit, but an informal Twitter poll I took indicated a lot of folks willing to pay. (Okay, yes, I polled the choir. But they’re really really in favor of conversion.)
And thanks for pointing out the shout-out; it was nice to get noticed!
