It's a crisp fall day in New Jersey. There are still some leaves lingering on the trees, and the sun is shining. The weekend is packed with events – two soccer games, one birthday party, a bridal shower, a hike, CCD, and an invite to my brother's for meatballs.
Question of the Day – What are you doing this weekend?

Ooh, our soccer season is over (and we used to have 3 games, ’cause our little K boy insisted on playing on two teams). So, we have a relaxed weekend for the first time in ages — only one b-day party. We are joyful. The plan is to take a room load of stuff to goodwill (that’s been waiting for a free weekend).

Auditioning the sweet potato cake from that new NPR cookbook, in case I want to make it for Thanksgiving.
And possibly cleaning out our front closet, which has become more or less like a cartoon closet with pianos and giraffes falling out on your head whenever you open it.

Writing half a draft of my law review casenote. And the weather’s supposed to be beautiful here. Doesn’t that sound glorious? 😛

We usually aren’t this scheduled.

I’m uncharacteristically busy this week. Dinner downtown—Thai, yay!—with brother and out-of-town cousin (who is staying with me). Tomorrow, some campaign work, then a 16th birthday party, and Sunday an emergency meeting with other tenants about the hostile takeover of our building by real estate developers and/or the possibility that the building may collapse to a pile of rubble, followed by a wedding in NJ. And in there somewhere, a hospital visit.

Tennis and swim for the kids, yard work, dinner with friends, church stuff, shopping/cooking. Bears game on Sunday. Too busy, really. Also greatly hoping for a nap, but it seems unlikely.

Swimming lesson for the girl then visit a new playground Saturday; jazz club Saturday night with the man (the rarely seen “date night”!); foreign film Sunday morning (series throughout the fall and winter); 4 year old birthday party for the girl’s friend in the afternoon.
Somewhere in there, slurping up coffee while trying to read the growing-smaller-and-smaller SNYT.

Taking leaves and brush to my town’s Free Brush and Leaves drop off. Also picking up leaves for a friend’s parents. I also need to track down a decent recipe for vegetarian jambalaya.

Friday night, bible study group. Saturday morning, pay bills, wash windows and other housework. Saturday afternoon, go to the library and do genealogical research. Saturday evening, dinner (made by my wife) and a sleepover by my daughter’s friends. Sunday morning, make breakfast for sleepover girls, then soccer game, home for lunch, maybe read for a while or bake something or read a memo for work if they email it to me, go to church, come home and have a drink, make dinner, and go to bed.
Also marital intimacy is slotted in there, though I won’t say where.

I just had a nice soak in a jacuzzi. I’m out of town visiting a friend who needed some help cleaning (long story). Rather than stay at her place, I treated myself to a hotel room. When I checked in, I jokingly asked if they had any rooms with jacuzzis, and for whatever reason (probably because I looked like a person who really needed a nice long bath), she gave me a huge room with a jacuzzi.
Did I mention the jacuzzi? This is a real treat for me.

On a more domestic note:
1. first big leaf removal
2. strip-mining expired carseats for useful parts
3. pumpkin muffin-making
This stuff will be mostly my husband. I plan to cheer from the sidelines.
