Is It Over?

The pollsters are starting to call it for Obama. Some are predicting huge wins. Other Republican candidates are campaigning as if Obama has won and are telling voters that they need to vote for a Republican in Congress to balance out government. It’s becoming obvious that Palin that is a HUGE liability for McCain. (‘Ya gotta listen to Sullivan go on about how scary he finds the idea of President Palin.) The endorsements are all going to Obama. Sure, there’s the obvious NYT endorsement, but Powell’s endorsement has to bring in some of the military dudes.

Bigshots are even looking for a post-campaign job for Palin. They are thinking of Hannity/Oprah type of thing for her. Nooooooooo. Please send her back to Alaska. I think we’ve all had enough.

  1. You just know Palin is going to milk this for more money.
That said, for some reason, last time I was in NY, my dad had Fox News on and Mike Huckabee’s show came on. And I have to say, I was kind of amused/intrigued in a positive way.

  2. No, it is not over. I keep focusing on the “undecideds.” There are enough of them in every battle ground state to make a difference in the outcome. It is not over. Can I actually shout: IT IS NOT OVER!
(and no one should act like it is).

  3. It’s not over. I think it’s likely, but not over.
I know a lot of people who are very socially conservative who love Palin. I think she could have a media career ahead of her. I say give it to her, I’d rather have her there than running for office again. Look at Bill O’Reilly, Dr. Laura, Rush. She could fit right in there.

  5. It ain’t over till its over.
Last out in the 9th inning ladies and gents is the end of the game. We still have a while till November 4th and when we case our votes. Till then we will continue to press, continue to advocate, and stay in this game changing election.

  6. I kind of think it’s over. I was thinking of the old Edwin Edwards remark, that he couldn’t lose the Governorship ‘unless they catch me with a dead girl or a live boy’…
This has been a Rawls versus Nozick election in a lot of ways, and Nozick has been ill served by his champion. Obama’s been doing a very nice job of looking like a President, and McCain has been doing a not-great job of looking like a guy trying to look like a President.
Actually let me chew on the ‘dead girl or live boy’ remark a little more. There were several candidates whose appeal came in large part from showing us their storybook family lives – John Edwards, Obama, Mitt Romney. The revulsion towards Edwards after he was caught dipping his pen in another inkwell is cautionary, and one of the few things which could hurt Obama at this point would be to be caught out on his devotion to family/fidelity etc. Even that wouldn’t lose it for him at this point, I think, but it might move him from landslide to squeaker.
Going to see his grandmother was very winning – I mean, I don’t have any reason to think it was calculated, but it was very sweet.

  8. Yeah, I remember you also said that her fifteen minutes of fame were up. I’m not sure about that. The base still loves her. All those PJM commenters are going to put her on a throne on FOX and she’s never going to go away.

  9. But, she’s still governor of Alaska. Do folks think she’s going to resign that job in order to become a talk show host? I don’t think she can do both.
