Question of the Day — Running Mates

I’m totally ripping off this post from the Monkey Cage. We here at 11D want your predictions for the running mates in November. Their rules apply here, too. "Leave your prediction in the comments. Your prediction must be a name
and nothing more. No wishy-washy back-and-forth. No pretending to know
what difference the veep will make in the polls, in such-and-such
state, etc. No comments on others’ predictions. Just the name."

Question of the Day — Who will be the Republican VP and the Democratic VP?

  1. Obama will name McCain his running mate, and McCain will name Obama his running mate. The race will be bitterly contested.

  2. I’m only going to post my guess if Laura promises to post hers :-).
I do think my guesses are wild, though, and have no confidence in the eventual outcome.

  3. JMT — oooh, hot tips permitted.
Even if JMT hadn’t dropped that tip, I would have said Sebelius for Obama. She’s a conservative Democrat that plays well in the South. Actually, very conservative on immigration policy. Could bring in the gun-racks-and-trucks guys. And bringing in a woman would do a lot to ease the frustrations of the Hillary voters.
I say Romney for McCain. I hope he doesn’t pick Ridge. He’s highly unlikable.
Those strict Monkey Room rules don’t work here. We’re too jabbery. I’m taking them back.

  4. McCain-Romney (who probably doesn’t know how many hsoues he has either)
    Obama-Kaine
p.s. There’s NO WAY it will be Leiberman — with either ticket.

Uh, are you joking? Good luck to the Obama campaign if they think the “See? A vagina, any vagina, that’s what you cared about, right?” spin will attract Hillary voters.

Siobhan, I think that sentence belongs with the previous thread and the other Clinton.

  7. I was just thinking of a possible issue with announcing Obama’s VP via text-message. Most of the people who text message won’t have the foggiest idea who the VP is when they get their personal notification, unless it’s somebody really well known, like HRC. If it’s somebody even a smidgen less well known than HRC, there’s going to be a million-person collective “Huh?”
