Garden Party

Lots of good personal posts about gardens lately. Like Wendy, I’m planning on rubbing out the suburban green puff balls in front of the house. I’m too chicken to pull out all of the shrubbery in one shot. I can’t quite bring myself to do a Godfather-like rub out of all the bushes at one time, so instead I’m using a silencer on one shrub at a time. Here are some pictures of the green things in our yard.

  1. Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say ‘ni’ at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history.

  2. jeez, that looks like a perfectly nice uncontroversial foundation planting. what’s not to like? you will get fifteen years out of that fence instead of eight if you paint water repellent oil onto it.

  3. Nice! I like the roses. But I think I see hostas, and hostas weird me out. I also like that tree with the reddish leaves.
I did some bird-blogging today. Great excitement over our first hummingbird sighting! And she’s beautiful!
