The Non-Vaccinators

Megan comes out rather strongly against the non-vaccinators and makes me laugh:

Knowing parasites upon the herd immunity of everyone else, they are
increasingly creating clusters of unvaccinated kids who form disease
reservoirs where previously eradicated illnesses like measles are
making a comeback. Their precious darlings then go on to infect younger
children who haven’t had their vaccinations, the immunocompromised, and
adults whose immunity has waned.

Now that I have a foot in the special education community, I’ve heard way too many rants about vaccinations. I’m very happy to hear rants from the other side now.

The first comment says “They’re not idiots, there DAMNED idiots. We should call it what it is—a cult. A bunch of people with odd beliefs and dangerous practices congregating together—they kool aid (ok, flavr ade) is rapidly quenching their thirst as they endanger children.”

  2. Wow, that’s a tough crowd. I admire the non-vaxers who have been willing to enter that fray. They’re not finding many open minds. There’s a heck of a lot of fear about vaccinatable diseases, many of which have low morality and morbidity. Kids get sick. So do adults. It’s unfortunate, but true. The research on vaccines is insufficent, and parents, who live with their children and certainly have to live with their decision, should have the right to make those decisions.
But sorry — you were looking for the other side:/
