The last post was getting too long. Here’s more stuff about Spitzer that I’m finding as I compulsively gorge myself at this table of trashy treats.

Great post by Lindsay about Spitzer’s hubris.

Regardless of what you think of the morality of paying for sex, and
irrespective of whatever understanding Mr. and Mrs. Spitzer might have
had… Eliot Spitzer was a self-indulgent fool to think that he could
arrange for sex over the telephone and move his money around to cover
it! (…in an election year, as the Dems were poised to take back the
State Senate, on the heels of the State police intel scandal…)

Spitzer displayed a Nixonian level of hubris. If he thinks the rules don’t apply to him, he shouldn’t be in power.

  1. He’s a vengeful humorless scold, a prig. He got power because no-one dared to cross him. That sort of position is peculiarly vulnerable to a scandal of any sort, because the people who thought they had better get along with him all suddenly see that they need not, the emperor has no clothes. There are some similarities with Hillary, though she has more people who actually like her and are loyal to her.

    Pressed by the reporter about “taking Sen. [Clinton] at [her] word,” [bj] — asked again if she believes [she sleeps with prostitutes] — continued: “No, no, why would I — there’s nothing to base that on — as far as I know,” she added. She emphasized the word “I.””
    Yeah, I’m bitter about that comment from Hillary. But, I’ll say what she should have (“Of course i don’t believe that Obama is a Muslim”). Of course I don’t believe that Hillary sleeps with prostitutes. :-).
