Get me a bar of soap! Leftie bloggers are more likely to use Carlin’s “7 Dirty Words” than right bloggers. Fucking awesome.

Leave saving the world to the men? I don't think so.

Why would you want to go on record swearing? While it seems cool and young and hip, it demures the image and reality of the left to where it damages credibility with older voters. Talking does nothing without action and execution, it is inaction and execution of the desired results that lost the last vote for the Dems. The youth vote will NEVER win. 1st time middle class voters on the other hand will.

You’re right, kip. swearing does undermine the credibility of bloggers with mainstream, older Americans.
On the other hand, I could care less if someone drops an f-bomb now and then. If it is a way to cover up stupidity, then that bothers me, but if a smart argument is peppered with curses, the curses don’t undermine the smart argument.
Sometimes a situation is so untenable that the only proper reaction ought to be an expletive. I’m not sure how anyone can talk about the war in Iraq without going blue.
Also, cursing is incredibly effective on the Internet. It’s short and powerful.

I know these references to “older voters” are speaking in general terms, but I would just like to point out that I first heard swear words from my parents, who are now in their sixties. Both were English majors, and one is a professor, and I am sure they appreciate a well-argued political statement, but they aren’t afraid of a few f-words.

I think that cursing has a lot of colloquial power. You can be savage — and funny! — with curse words and be understood.
On the flip side, the colloquial can easily become cliched. The problem with blog cursing is not that its offensive, but that its boring.
