Sunday Night Journal

The allergies kicked me in the jugular this weekend, so there were no fun adventures around here. I was too croaky to go too far. I don’t usually get jumped like that, but this year the allergies are especially bold and obnoxious.

All four of us were pretty sniffly. It’s nice to hand down allergies and myopia along to the future generation of nerds. When nerds breed. Explains a lot of Ian’s problems.

On Saturday morning, I read over the architecture section of the Times. I especially liked this article on New Urbanism and might write a post on it later in the week. After spending an hour on the magazine, I got all anal and decluttered the house. How I would love the perfectly modern and empty home, darling. Too bad I chose to reproduce instead. It’s impossible to be Ms. High Design with Raffi videos stacked everywhere. Edna

While still on my design high, I pulled out the Flor catalog. They’ve got this mid-century thing that I think works very well with mission style houses. It’s all about the straight line. So, I picked out a striped pattern for the kiddie/reading/guest room.

Then Steve pulled out the mysterious box that has been sitting on the entrance way table for a few days. “What’s that?” “Uh, it’s the blackberry.” “IT’S THE WHA?!!!!!” Steve’s boss said he has to take it home now. Steve says that it doesn’t mean that he has to turn it on. Laura says it doesn’t mean that she can’t accidentally pop it in the microwave.

  1. I’ve never had allergies before — I’m 27 — but for the last few days I’ve felt like someone put sandpaper down my throat and went to town (I’ve also got the sniffles). I was fearing I might have strep, but now — after reading your post — I think I might have allergies (damn).

  2. Me, too, Snay. It’s mostly all in my throat. I also thought it was strep a couple of weeks ago and even went to the doctor for a strep test. They say that this is the worst season in 25 years.
