Blogger Bleg

I’m working on a paper and need help.

I’m looking for examples of bloggers who have one particular political issue or policy that they champion on their blog. An example would be Andrew Sullivan who blogs on a variety of topics, but often comes back to the issue of gay marriage, points his readers to pending court decisions, and has a strong opinion of where he wants policy to go.

Help.

  1. It’s about bloggers who use their blogs to promote a specific political policy, like charter schools rather than a broader topic like education policy. This is a very small set of bloggers, I know, and am putting together a list of bloggers like this. Later this summer, I will interview them about their experiences of using their blog to push for their pet cause.

  2. Cool. Does anybody read any health care blogs? Anybody on immigration policy? My husband just suggested LGF for pro-Israel policy.

  3. I wouldn’t call LGF a pro-Israel policy blog.
If you wanted to pin an agenda on it, I’d say it was advocating strong anti-terrorism policy. (strong as in bomb them into oblivion…)
He’s definitely ANTI-Palestinian, but not PRO-Israel — you’ll see lots of bad stuff against Palestinians, so I guess you can assume he supports Israel.
Anyway, if you look at it at any given time, only about half the posts deal with Palestinian/Israeli issues.

  4. familyscholars.org for marriage promotion.
getreligion.org for encouraging journalists to “get religion” and more accurately report religion stories

  5. Thanks, Allison, for saving me from reading LGF.
The blogs that I’m looking for don’t have solely to cover about that topic, just that to come back to it fairly frequently. They have to have an actual policy proposal that they are trying to get passed.
    Anybody read The Oil Drum?

  6. As a retired teacher, I still carry that orientation. However, my motivation has particularized around grandchildren, i.e.
GRANDPA TO GRANDCHILDREN (probably at least teens) – with whatever practical wisdom he can muster, especially borrow(with attribution, of course).
Is there any such group currently active in the blogosphere?
