Weekend Journal

For me, blogging has always been about the words. I started blogging a couple of years ago just to practice writing and never aimed to put together a slick internet product complete with topical photographs. There’s nothing wrong with good graphics. In fact, beautiful design is important to me, but it’s not what I am going for on this blog. [She scans the layout of the blog and says “duh.”]

I may have chosen a poor medium to celebrate the good word. The internet page is made happiest by large photos and spare words. Some of the most interesting essays go unread in the blogosphere, because their length scares away the average blog skimmer who loathes to press the “Pg Dn” key.

Anyhow, I’m tired tonight, and I’m giving you pictures. Tomorrow – a long essay about blogging.

By mid afternoon, the snow plow had cleared away just enough snow to make the street slick with ice and to form a sledding mound at the ends of the street. The kids were out for hours.
