The Week Ahead

I got up with Steve at 6:15 this morning. I had been writing for twenty minutes in my head and needed to plug it into a computer before the words were lost.

As I waited for the computer to juice up, I checked out the neighborhood to see who else was up. The advantage of having a tall house. Lights on at crazy Sue’s house. Rita was padding around in her pajamas. No action at Greg’s, the nameless neighbors, or the old folks across the street. No point even checking in on the Murray’s, because they always run to the bus stop with toast in hand and drowsy eyes.

I got the kids off to school this morning, which was quite a feat. Since Wednesday night when Ian puked in his bed at 2:00am, we’ve been playing ping pong with a stomach virus. Whapping it back and forth to each other and never quite recovering. Like a hikikomori, I have been been stuck inside for days, except for one ill fated trip to New York City. I started feel sick on the bus ride in, almost hurled in Port Authority, and then took the next bus back to the sickhouse in Jersey.

I have several posts planned, one of which might happen later today. More on feminism and motherhood, as the guys keep writing me good e-mails on the topic. And a big shout out to Elizabeth who was in the Times on Sunday. Whoo Whoo! There will be a post on gifted education, because everyone wants to talk about it. And a post on food, because I feel like it.
