So, who else is watching Lost?
Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on? What’s with the whispering? The French woman? The door in the ground?
I’m soooo confused. I’m also watching Carnevale, and I’m equally befuddled. Is this the new trend in TV? Freak out the viewer to win ratings?
I started watching Lost because of Matthew Fox who kept me glued to Party of Five even after Charlie got Hogkins and his girl friend went crazy and the other brother became an alkie. Fine television. But you know, I don’t think Fox is the cutest of the Lost cast. I’m liking Sayid, but Sawyer is also growing on me.

I wanted to watch “Lost” but missed the beginning. I’m three episondes behind on “Carnivale” but will be catching up this weekend. Carnivale I get, so far, though. I think maybe because I’ve read a lot of this kind of thing, from Charles Williams to Dean Koontz (yes, they can be related in terms of storytelling, I think). I donh’t know anyone else watching it, though, so if you ever want to talk about it, I’d love to.

Just glanced at Mel’s (IFoT) and saw that she just saw “Constantine.” I’m not irritated, but thought I should mention that “Hellblazer” (Vertigo Comics) is also great in this kind of fuzzy-lines-between-what’s-really-good-and -what’s-really-evil vein. But, as I said there, WTF? Keanu and LA? part of the series’ charm is that it’s very English.

The whispering is from the unnamed “monster,” maybe a product of someone’s imagination (or their collective imagination). Not a “figment,” because it has actually (apparently) killed the pilot, in a bloody scene from the first episode.
The crazy Frenchwoman has been on the island for 15-20 years and was with a band of others, whom she may have killed because of the “sickness” they had. But apparently not everyone else on the island is dead (Ethan, who they just killed last week after he kidnapped Claire and tried to kill Charlie, probably has comrades – although we don’t know for sure).
To catch up I recommend televisionwithoutpity.com, which has excellent recaps of this show and a bunch of others – a fantastic time waster for anyone who has found a show they like. Although you should go back and watch the early ones if they rerun them – the first few are totally gripping (especially the one about Locke).

Would I out myself as unutterably shallow if I admit that I too find Sayid extremely attractive and I think bad boy Sawyer is delicious eye candy? Matthew Fox never did much for me back on Party of Five, though. Same here. And I don’t think I’ve talked celebrity crush talk since high school. Don’t tell anyone, okay?
I relish the show. Good thing, too, because JJ Abrams is clearly not spending enough time back on Alias, and that show has gone seriously downhill this season. Not enough lingering mystery. It’s all apparently gone, along with Abrams, to the land of the Lost.

The best show currently on television. Lost isn’t going to be a show of entirely episodic development…You won’t understand everything, I’m told, until the end of the season. But, I’m hoping Sawyer is the character that dies. I intensely dislike Sawyer. Of course, Locke is my favorite character, so that might have something to do with it.
